Advancing Secure and Interoperable Digital Health for All
Building a shared understanding of digital health and fostering a trusted ecosystem that enables secure, seamless, and interoperable healthcare innovation.
Connecting PeopleEnabling InnovationTransforming Healthcare
Overview
Unlocking this potential requires collaboration, trust, and a shared commitment to innovation.
In a world that is more digitally connected than ever before, technology has the power to redefine the future of health. While digital innovation continues to advance at remarkable speed, its ability to improve population health remains underutilized.
The Global Digital Health Association (GDHA) brings together healthcare professionals, technology leaders, policymakers, researchers, and innovators to advance the adoption of digital health solutions that improve healthcare accessibility, efficiency, and outcomes.
By fostering collaboration, promoting interoperability, and encouraging responsible innovation, GDHA is building a connected healthcare ecosystem that accelerates better health and well-being for communities around the world.
Digital Health
What is Digital Health?
The World Health Organisation (WHO) considers digital health essential for improving health equity and achieving Universal Health Coverage.

Digital health uses digital technologies to drive transformation and innovation in healthcare. From telehealth and virtual care to artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and genomics, digital health is changing how healthcare services are delivered, improving disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and health management.
Digital health not only helps healthcare professionals deliver better services, but empowers individuals to manage their own health, ensuring more people can access the care they need at the right time — especially in remote and underserved communities.
Much like a country's road and transport infrastructure supports the movement of people and goods, digital health infrastructure provides healthcare systems with an efficient and secure information platform that improves care coordination, reduces errors, enhances health outcomes, and drives more equitable and sustainable health systems.
WHO's Three Goals for Digital Health
01
Data-Driven Decision Making
Turning Data into Action
Promoting health data sharing standards and interoperability to support healthcare institutions, professionals, and policymakers in making more accurate and effective decisions through data-driven insights.
02
Knowledge Sharing
Enhancing Knowledge
Leveraging emerging technologies to break down geographic and time barriers, connecting global experts, scholars, and healthcare workers through digital channels to accelerate knowledge dissemination and medical innovation.
03
Needs-Based Innovation
Aligning Innovations with Country Needs
Placing real health needs at the core — identifying, developing, and promoting innovations that solve genuine problems through collaboration with governments, healthcare institutions, technology companies, and communities.
GDHA's Strategic Priorities
01
Advocate
Raise awareness of digital health and promote policies, standards, and best practices that support innovation, interoperability, and sustainable adoption.
02
Connect
Bring together healthcare leaders, innovators, academia, technology providers, and policymakers to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and develop meaningful partnerships.
03
Enable
Support the development of a secure and interoperable digital health ecosystem through education, collaborative initiatives, and practical implementation programs.
